Paul loves the church in the Philippi. And the church in Philippi loves Paul.
They have experienced together genuine partnership in the gospel, striving side by side for the advance of the gospel. Paul writes this letter to them, not so much to correct bad teaching, or rebuke bad behaviour, but encourage them to continue to be entirely shaped by their gospel partnership. To treasure Christ, consider death as gain, take Christ as their example, serving one another and in everything live lives worthy of the Gospel.
